A German-American raised in Los Angeles, Shawn spent his early years rooted in DIY filmmaking and skate films before finding his way onto feature film sets working across all departments. He has spent the last decade honing his skills as a director and cinematographer, bringing broad experience and a meticulous approach to each project, taking ideas from concept to completion with a detailed precision across planning, production and post.

He excels in capturing fleeting moments, finding beauty in the everyday and bringing forward the powerful emotion of the human experience. Specializing in coaxing genuine and compelling performances from first-time and non-actors, Shawn infuses every piece with authenticity and a palpable human touch.

Shawn is currently in development on his first feature film, based on his award-winning short film Lessons, which gathered acclaim for the performance of its young actors, and its thrilling suspense built through meticulous pacing and atmospheric tension.
