Jim Owen is a writer and director whose recent commercial work includes two spots for Smart Meters with Albert Einstein, a trippy commercial for Sunday World, a frantic and funny spot for Maxol, and capturing odd-ball, non-swimming sea swimmers, for Lyons Tea.
He’s also recently directed six spots for Maltesers Buttons, to help launch them in the UK, as well as a launch spot for Smarty Mobile.
His past commercials include work for Subway, Huawei, McVities, Cheerios, The Big Issue, Denplan, Philips, Comfort and helped launch Greg James’ R1 Breakfast Show with the Don’t Blow It Greg campaign. For TV Jim directed the BBC3 Comedy Feed Hailmakers (starring Samson Kayo, Akemnji Ndifornyen and Jason Barnett) for BBC Studios, and the BBC2 sketch shows Sketchland and What’s Funny About The Indyref? for BBC Comedy in Scotland.
Jim’s shorts have screened at Sundance, where he won an Honorable Mention In Short Film-Making, at SXSW and the BFI’s London Comedy Film Festival. They have been Staff Picked by Vimeo, awarded a Silver at the 1.4 Awards, featured in Wholphin, Vice and on Short Of The Week.
His massive budget feature film, Hostages, starring Charlotte Ritchie, is scheduled for release in 2024.
